Many of its graduates are well known designers today they have marked their names nationally and internationally. They include H.S.Y, Maheen kardar, Kamiar Rohmi and many others have made Lahore the upcoming fashion capital of Pakistan. Because of these designers, people are becoming more aware of fashion scene in Pakistan. Previously, it was assumed that only the youth was interested in fashion world but today it seems as if fashion has no age limits. Old, young and even today’s children are fashion obsessed. Lahori designers have entirely changed people's perception of contemporary fashion! People buy whatever the designer has to offer them. Under the influence of Lahori Designers, many designers have emerged in other parts of the country too. Fashion has become a rountine follow up. If the designers introduce something, people immediately follow that. Other than creating fashion awareness, these designers have also made us proud. Nelopher Shahid, a Lahore based designer is the only designer of Pakistan who was invited by French government to showcase her designs in Paris. Hassan Shehryar Yasin started off his career as a choreographer plus designer and showcased his designs in London, New York City, Toronto, Bahrain and Qatar. No other Pakistani designer had such privilege to enjoy. In the year 2000 he formally introduced his own label as HSY. He started in bridal and formal wear dress lines and has since become one of the most recognized South-Asian fashion label in the world. It currently employs over 350 workers and has six international stores with the flagship studio housed in Lahore. Many Lahori designers are taking part in Bridal Asia too, which is a platform for all Asian designers. They have got much acclaim through this. Designers like Mehreen Kadar, Maria.B, Deepak Pervani and Honey Waqar are taking part in it. Million of rupees are spent on preparing for such fashion wears. When we talk about fashion other than clothes and designers, models are very important of this industry too. Without them the designers cannot showcase their dresses. Lahori people are very talented.

PAKISTANI RAVISHING MODELS

Many of the fashion models are Lahore based. Many of them are students of well knows college of Lahore like Kinnaird, LUMS, NCA, etc. With these models the fashion world appear to be glamorous. They add life to cat walks by beautifully carrying designer clothes. Zaneb Qayyum a very popular fashion model is a Kinnaird graduate. Following her footsteps many other college students opt for modeling after graduation. She graduated with her degree in English literature and now is the editor of the fashion magazine 'Libas'. Many other students of NCA are models or hosts of television programs. Ali Zafar, an NCA graduate, first started modeling and now is a popular singer, artist and model. Amina Haq was a student of Shoaifat School in Lahore. Another prominent model Iman Ali has a very large fan following in the fashion world. Young girls try to follow her style. Now a days, men are also getting more interested in modeling. With increasing men wear designers the demand for male models is also increasing. Male models such as Imran Abbas and Ammar Bilal are all Lahore based and they have made their city very proud. Ammar Bilal has now his own brand featuring men wear. His brand is making waves in the fashion world. Since, educated people have entered the field of modeling they have changed people's perception towards it. In Past, wealthy families did not allow their children to go for modeling, but today this perception has changed entirely. Upcoming models like Neha and Rachel have further enhanced the fashion and cat walk scenario. Thus, the Lahore based models had always been an inspiration for our glamour oriented youth and is continuing to be so.

FASHION MEGA EVENTS

Lahore is also becoming the centre of limelight because of its emerging versatile fashion extravaganza and ramp or cat walks. Lahore offers the ravishing environment and tasteful audience that is an ingredient for a successful show. The venue ranges from old and traditional landmark buildings of Asif Jaah and Usaf Salli’s havalies in the interior Lahore and the famous gardens or the fort itself to new age, modern and elite hotels like Pearl Continental, Avari, Royal Palm & Country Club, Gym-Khana and numerous other event complexes. Such places not only cater to the needs of large gatherings but also provide suitable platform for international fashion events too. For example, recently Lahore hosted the International Fashion Week in 2007 at Royal Palm and Country Club where designers from all over the world participated and displayed their latest collections over a whole week.
